Craig Rouskey
CEO, Flore Inc. · Founder, GoodOnes™ · MSc MBMB + Immunology, SIU · BSc Biology, University of St. Francis
Craig Rouskey is the scientist and operator behind the Flore brand family. He holds a BSc in Biology from the University of St. Francis (Joliet, IL), an MSc in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry & Immunology from Southern Illinois University (Edwardsville & Carbondale), and completed advanced research training as an Onderzoeker in Opleiding (PhD researcher in training) at the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam. His work sits at the intersection of data science, microbiome engineering, and precision health — translating large-scale sequencing data into clinical and consumer products that actually move the needle.
The GoodOnes™ line is the direct output of that work: ten system-matched probiotic formulas assembled from patterns in Flore's longitudinal dataset of 23,447 sequenced microbiomes, each formula traceable to real patient outcomes rather than convention or marketing.
Education
Onderzoeker in Opleiding — Academic Medical Center, Amsterdam
Advanced doctoral research training in a clinical academic setting. OiO is the Dutch academic medical centre designation for a PhD researcher embedded in clinical research.
Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry & Immunology — Southern Illinois University (Springfield & Carbondale, IL)
The scientific foundation for everything that followed at Flore — deep training in the organisms, pathways, and immune mechanisms that underpin microbiome science and probiotic formulation.
Biology — University of St. Francis, Joliet, IL
Undergraduate foundation in biological sciences.
Career timeline
CEO — Flore Inc.
Leading Flore Inc. and its four consumer and clinical brands: GoodOnes™ (DTC targeted probiotics), Flore Custom (personalized microbiome-informed formulation), Flore Clinical (practitioner-supervised formulary), and Autism Probiotics (ASD-specialty). Overseeing the longitudinal sequencing program, clinical data infrastructure, and the product lines built on top of it.
Renegade Bio — COVID-19 Diagnostic Response
Contributed to Renegade Bio's rapid COVID-19 diagnostic response — applying genomics and bioinformatics infrastructure to high-throughput clinical testing at scale during the pandemic. The experience underscored the power of data infrastructure in health crises and the urgency of accessible precision diagnostics.
Pando Nutrition
Leadership role at Pando Nutrition, applying data science to animal nutritional formulation and health outcomes — building early fluency in the relationship between microbiome science, formulation, and measurable results.
Bionascent
Early career foundation in bioscience and business — building the operational and scientific fluency that would later underpin Flore's clinical and consumer programs.
The dataset
The foundation of every GoodOnes™ formula is Flore's longitudinal microbiome sequencing program — 23,447 individuals sequenced, with outcomes tracked across time. The finding that drove the GoodOnes™ concept: targeted, strain-matched formulas consistently outperformed broad-spectrum blends across specific complaint categories. Less was working better. That pattern, replicated across thousands of cases, is what the formulas are built on.
The real-world evidence is published: Targeted, System-Matched Probiotics at Scale: Real-World Evidence from a Longitudinal Microbiome Program — 651 paired subjects, 47.4% within-subject symptom resolution at first follow-up, cumulative resolution approaching 86% over the program course.
