The Mechanism Library
How each GoodOne™ works.
Strain by strain.
Every formula is built around a mechanism, not a marketing claim. This page shows the strain, the dose, the pathway, the expected timeline, and — importantly — who each One is not for. Genus and species are fully disclosed. Proprietary strain sub-identifiers are on file at Flore Clinical; available to practitioners and researchers on request at [email protected].
The Universal Core — in every adult GoodOne™
Three clinically-studied strains that appear in every adult formula. They form the stable foundation; the two issue-specific strains on top are what change from One to One.
Barrier anchoring. Adheres to the gut lining, crowding out opportunistic microbes and reinforcing the epithelial barrier. Reduces translocation of bacterial products across the gut wall — the upstream driver of systemic low-grade inflammation.
Immune calibration. Communicates with the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) — the immune layer embedded in the gut wall. Helps the immune system distinguish commensal microbes from pathogens, reducing inappropriate immune activation without suppressing response.
Daily stability. Clinically studied for gut comfort, mood steadiness, and immune baseline — across multiple randomized controlled trials. Works broadly across GI, immune, and mood endpoints. The most multi-studied strain in the Universal core.
The Regular One
One job: gentle, predictable daily regularity — without urgency, cramping, or stimulant effects.
Issue-specific strains
Peristaltic rhythm. Produces short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs — primarily butyrate and propionate) that stimulate the enteric nervous system's natural motility signals. Prompts the gut's own peristaltic rhythm rather than forcing it. Not a laxative — no urgency, no spasm. Studied in 6+ RCTs for functional constipation.
Moisture retention. Supports mucin layer integrity and water retention in the colon — the key factor in stool consistency and ease of transit. Works alongside RGO-S01 to soften and regularize output without loosening. Studied for transit time (SmartPill methodology) and stool frequency.
Outcomes & timelines
- 68% of users in our dataset reported meaningful improvement in stool frequency
- 11 days median time to first noticeable effect
- 56% repurchase rate
- Study data on file: 2 RCTs (bowel-movement frequency; transit time via SmartPill), n=264 combined
Who this is not for
- Diagnosed IBS-C with severe pain — refer to Flore Clinical
- Active inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's, UC) — medical supervision required
- Anyone looking for fast, laxative-style relief — this works in days, not hours
The Bright One
One job: calmer gut under stress — for stress-reactive digestion, pre-event butterflies, and the mood-gut connection.
Issue-specific strains
SCFA substrate. Supplies the fermentation substrate that feeds tryptophan-pathway signaling — the upstream input for serotonin synthesis in the gut. Approximately 90% of the body's serotonin is produced in the gut; this strain supports that production environment.
Vagal axis signaling. Produces neurotransmitter precursors (GABA, tryptophan metabolites) that travel the gut-vagus-brain axis — the primary communication highway between gut and brain. Studied in 4 psychobiotic mood trials (n>600, 2017–2023) for BDI-II score and self-reported mood stabilization.
Outcomes & timelines
- 58% reported meaningful mood or stress-gut improvement
- 21 days median time to effect (gut-brain axis responds more slowly than transit)
- Study data: 2 trials (BDI-II score; self-reported mood index), n=472 combined
Who this is not for
- Diagnosed clinical depression or anxiety disorder — not a medication replacement
- Acute panic or crisis — seek immediate clinical support
- Anyone expecting mood effects in the first week — this requires 3–4 weeks minimum
The Calm One
One job: steadier daily baseline — for gut-vagus dysregulation, sensory reactivity with a gut component, and focus/calm support in autistic adults.
Issue-specific strains
Gut environment stability. Supports the microbial environment the vagus nerve reads from. A stable, Bifido-rich lower gut produces fewer pro-inflammatory signals that feed into vagal hyperactivation — a documented feature in autism-related gut dysfunction.
Oxytocin-pathway support. L. reuteri is the most-studied probiotic strain for gut-vagus-social behavior signaling. Animal and early human data show upregulation of oxytocin-pathway activity via vagal stimulation. Studied across 5 gut-behavior cohort studies in autism support populations (n>600, 2017–2024).
Outcomes & timelines
- 60% reported meaningful improvement in focus + calm composite score
- 19 days median time to noticeable effect
- Full strain dossier available to practitioners — email [email protected]
Who this is not for
- Pediatric use — see Flore Clinical for the pediatric protocol
- Replacing ABA, speech therapy, or prescribed medications
- Anyone expecting dramatic behavioral change — effects are supportive, not curative
The Strong One
One job: immune resilience and fewer sick days — for people who catch every cold or want to maintain immune readiness year-round.
Issue-specific strains
IgA secretion. Stimulates secretory IgA production in the gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT) — the first line of mucosal immune defense. Higher IgA correlates with reduced upper respiratory infection rates. Studied in winter-cohort cold-incidence trials.
Macrophage readiness. Primes innate immune macrophage activity and reduces pro-inflammatory cytokine overshoot — so the immune response is faster to start and less likely to cause collateral inflammation. Part of the meta-analysis dataset (5 trials, n=1,612) showing symptom-day reduction.
Outcomes & timelines
- 69% reported improved immune resilience (highest response rate in the line)
- 16 days median time to effect
- 63% repurchase rate (highest in the line)
- Study data: 1 RCT (cold incidence, winter cohort); 1 meta-analysis (5 trials, n=1,612, symptom-day reduction)
Who this is not for
- Active autoimmune conditions — immune modulation requires physician oversight
- During acute infection — start after recovery
- Anyone replacing vaccination or prescribed antivirals
The Clear One
One job: skin clarity from the gut out — for skin that flares, reddens, or breaks out when digestion is off.
Issue-specific strains
Gut-skin axis — barrier side. Reinforces the gut barrier's tight junction integrity, reducing the translocation of bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS) into systemic circulation. Elevated LPS is a documented driver of acne-like and inflammatory skin flares via the gut-skin axis.
Gut-skin axis — microbial side. Maintains the Bifido-dominant lower gut environment that produces anti-inflammatory SCFAs. Reduces the microbial overgrowth patterns that drive gut-derived skin inflammation. Studied across 6 gut-skin axis cohort studies (n>900, 2016–2024).
Outcomes & timelines
- 61% reported improvement in skin-clarity composite score
- 24 days median time to effect (skin turnover adds latency)
- Give it at least 6 weeks — skin response is slower than gut response
Who this is not for
- Severe cystic acne or eczema requiring topical/systemic medication — see a dermatologist
- Skin conditions with no GI component — benefit is via the gut-skin axis; if your gut is healthy, skin uplift will be modest
The Lean One
One job: metabolic support via the gut — GLP-1 adjacent, satiety signaling, and microbial metabolite production for metabolic balance.
Issue-specific strains
Outcomes & timelines
- 55% reported meaningful metabolic improvement (lowest single-formula response rate — metabolic outcomes have more confounders)
- 28 days median time to effect
- Works best alongside diet changes — not a substitute for calorie awareness
Who this is not for
- Anyone expecting weight loss without dietary changes — this supports the metabolic environment, it doesn't override diet
- Type 1 or insulin-dependent Type 2 diabetes — speak to your endocrinologist first
The Mighty One
One job: recovery and strength support — for active adults whose gut health affects training recovery and nutrient uptake.
Issue-specific strains
Nutrient absorption support. Maintains gut barrier integrity under exercise-induced permeability stress (training increases gut leakiness, especially in endurance athletes). A healthy barrier means better absorption of the protein and micronutrients that drive recovery.
Gut-muscle axis. Produces butyrate that feeds colonocytes and supports the microbial environment associated with reduced exercise-induced GI distress — a common limiter for active people. Part of 5 recovery-and-strength cohort studies in active adults (n>700, 2018–2024).
Outcomes & timelines
- 58% reported improved recovery and strength composite
- 18 days median time to effect
- Prebiotic: elderberry (not flaxseed) — supports the antioxidant environment post-training
Who this is not for
- Replacing protein intake or creatine — this supports the gut environment, not muscle synthesis directly
- Sedentary users — benefit is strongest in people under regular physical training stress
The Little One
One job: everyday gut support for developing microbiomes — a Bifido-forward blend built for children's guts, served by the scoop.
Four-strain Bifido blend (no Universal core)
Pediatric microbiome scaffolding. Bifidobacterium species dominate the healthy infant and child gut microbiome. This blend prioritizes the four strains most studied in early-life microbiome development: B. infantis for HMO metabolism (breast milk sugars), B. longum for transit and stool consistency, B. breve for barrier support, and B. animalis for daily rhythm. No adult Lactobacillus strains — designed for developing, not adult, gut architecture.
Outcomes & timelines
- 70% response rate — highest in the line (developing guts respond faster)
- 15 days median time to effect
- Prebiotic: banana powder — gentle, well-tolerated, kid-friendly
Who this is not for
- Adults — use any adult GoodOne instead
- Infants under 1 year without pediatrician guidance
- Children with immune compromise — speak to your pediatrician first
