Two jobs, one gut.
People sometimes ask why we don't ship a single "do everything" probiotic. The honest answer is that the gut is not one job — it's a tube two hundred square feet long, with stations along it doing different work. A strain that helps in the colon is not the strain that helps in the small intestine.
The Regular One — the lower bowel
The Regular One pairs Bifidobacterium animalis subspecies lactis and Bifidobacterium longum on a flaxseed prebiotic. The job is regularity. The mechanism is short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) production in the lower colon — SCFAs stimulate the gut's natural peristaltic rhythm and help the bowel retain moisture. Tested across six RCTs in chronic functional constipation (n > 900, 2015–2023). Cohort data: 932 picked, 68% improved, 11-day median to first effect.
The Calm One — the small intestine
The Calm One pairs Bifidobacterium animalis subspecies lactis and Lactobacillus reuteri on a flaxseed prebiotic. The job is steady focus + calm — autism-support framing. The mechanism is the gut-vagus signalling line: bacterial metabolites ride the vagus nerve from the small intestine up to the brain stem. Across five gut-behaviour cohort studies (n > 600, 2017–2024). Cohort data: 769 picked, 60% improved, 19-day median.
Same gut, different stations
The Regular One works in the colon. The Calm One works in the small intestine. They share three strains (the Universal core), but the two issue-specific strains and the station they target are different. That's the whole engineering brief: pick the station, pick the strains the research keeps pointing at for that station, ship them in.
